​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Udaipur District is one the 33 districts of Rajasthan, the historic city of Udaipur also known as ‘City of Lake’ or sometimes ‘Venice of The East’ is an administrative headquarter of the district. The whole district is divided into 7 sub-divisions namely Girwa, Kherwada, Mavli, Vallabhnagar, Kotda, Jhadol and Salumber. Mewadi being the local dialect of the district is widely spoken villages and even town. The Udaipur city is very well developed and has number of industries which includes Marble, Limestone, Software and Hospitality. The major part of district has rural population with as many as 2154 villages, which is highest among any other district of Rajasthan. In comparison with rest of the district Udaipur City has fair opportunities and growing educational sector. The district has 6 government colleges 2 of them are in Kherwara, one in Kotra, Salumber, Sarada and Udaipur. The Mohan Lal Sukhadia University as the best university of district offers varied courses in Arts, Science and Commerce. The places of interest for the tourists in Udaipur district has many options like City Palace, Udaipur, Lake Palace, Jag Mandir, Monsoon Palace, Jagdish temple, Fatehsagar Lake, Lake Pichola, Saheliyon-Ki –Bari, Gulab Bagh Zoo, Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal, Bagore Ki Haveli, Ahar Museum, Shilpgram and Udaipur Solar Observatory. Udaipur district is well connected with all the modes of transport Road, Rail and Air. The Maharana Pratap Airport 20Kms from Udaipur has daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur. The airport is to receive permission for landing International flights in near future. Udaipur also has direct trains network to major cities in Rajasthan as well as other States including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. There is also a great bus connectivity to almost all the villages and cities around Udaipur.
