Pali District is a Rajput Dominated district of western Rajasthan, town of Pali is the districts headquarter. It has nine sub-divisions: Sojat, Marwar Junction, Jaitaran, Raipur, Sumerpur, Bali, Pali, and Desuri. Apart from this Pali District have 1012 villages under 320 gram panchayats. The local dialect of Pali is Marwari. The district is has sound agricultural production as, the region of have around 48 dams within, which covers nearly 23% of the total geographical area of the district. The main source of irrigation is wells which constitutes 75% of total irrigated area followed by pond tanks (20%), tube well (5%). Some of the reservoirs created by dams are also used irrigation purpose. The biggest river in the district is Luni River and its tributaries in the district are Jawai, Mithari, Sukri and Guhiya. Transport in the district is available in two modes Roadways and Railways. There are two government owned depots in Pali and Falna, which is connecting almost all the villages in the district. The only railways junction in the district is Marwar Junction, which is connected with Jodhpur, Ajmer, Ahmadabad and Udaipur. Main existing industries of the district includes Mehandi manufacturing units, textile dyeing and printing, umbrellas and wire netting, cotton ginning, ACSR conductors, agricultural equipment, conduct pipes, cement, guar gum, handle manufacturing units, medicines, pesticides and steel furniture. To promote these industries there are 15 industrial areas developed by the state government. The major tourist destinations of the district include Ranakpur, Jawai Dam, Parshuram Mahadev Temple, Nimbo Ka Nath Mahadev Temple, Lawaji Maharaj Temple and number of Jain Temples. Apart from this Pali District has other tourist attraction like Jadan Ashram, Bangur Museum, Lakhotia Garden, Maharan Pratap Smarak etc. The district also has fair opportunities in education with number of teachers training colleges, a Government Polytechnic College and a private engineering college.
